Lloyd’s Broker

Lloyd’s Broker

A specialist operation with a widely respected back-office focused on accurate on-time client delivery.

Lloyd’s of London is unique in that it is an insurance market place rather than an insurer in its own right. The capital that all insurers require is provided by “members” or “Names” who may be individuals, partnerships or corporate entities, who each separately provide capital to underwrite insurance business in groups known as “syndicates”. All syndicates are backed by a Central Fund that covers losses should the individual syndicate not be able to pay. As all Lloyd’s policies are backed by Lloyd’s common security, ratings agencies issue Lloyd’s with a single rating for its Financial Strength. (Note this rating covers all policies issued by Lloyds since 1993).

IBS is a Lloyd’s registered broker. This means that IBS has been approved by Lloyd’s, having met certain minimum standards and is able to place business directly with any Lloyd’s syndicate subject to a terms of business agreement (TOBA) being in place.
